The Big Red Rebuild is a $600 million historic modernization project for the University of Nebraska's Memorial Stadium. Approved in April 2026, the project focuses on tearing down and rebuilding the South and West seating bowls, improving 360-degree concourse circulation, adding chairback seating, and upgrading fan amenities to wrap up by the 2028 fall season.
- Cost & Funding: Estimated at $600 million, funded through $250 million in donations and $350 million in private bond financing (no taxpayer or tuition funds).
- Capacity Adjustment: Seating capacity will adjust to roughly 80,000 due to wider chairback seats and enhanced spacing.
- Fan Flow & Access: Creates a fully continuous 360-degree main concourse, expanded ADA accessibility, and larger restrooms and concessions.
- Student Section: A reimagined, high-energy student section will occupy the lower tiers of the south end zone.
- Multipurpose Events: Upgrades are tailored to expand non-football revenue, making the venue more competitive for concerts and large events.
