I grew up on a cash crop and Registered Angus cattle farm near Rising City, NE. I graduated from Rising City High School (now Shelby-Rising City), Central Community College - Platte campus, and UNL with a B.S. in Animal Science and Agricultural Economics. I spent 40 years in community banking in various executive positions, making loans to agricultural producers, small businesses, and commercial real estate, retiring at the end of 2023. My wife, Robin, who died in January 2024 of a rare ocular melanoma, was the CFO of the Nebraska Dept. of Economic Development. I live in Lincoln, but continue to own and manage farm property back home.
